Obituary of George Mysnyk

George T. Mysnyk Of Vestal George T. Mysnyk, 80, of Vestal, passed away Monday, August 27, 2007, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and is now at peace. He is predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Julia Mysnyk; also a brother, Steven; and a sister, Mary. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, M. Laura Mysnyk, Vestal; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Marilyn and Philip Nelson, Maryland, Myra and Richard Banke, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Mark and Lisa Mysnyk, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Michaela Knapp, Michael Knapp, Mackenzie Knapp, Eric Nelson, Liesel Nelson, Haylee Nelson, Daniel Mysnyk, Mary Mysnyk, Rachael Mysnyk, and Eva Marie Mysnyk; one great-granddaughter, Andrea Manchester; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Tekla and Vincent Mucci, Anna Kamas, both of Elmira, NY; also several nieces and nephews. George was a veteran of WWII, serving with the US Navy, a graduate of Clarkson College, and retired from IBM after 33 years of service; also a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. He was an employee of SUNY Binghamton for five years after retiring from IBM. He was a former Vestal Little League Treasurer, helped build the VVMA Pool, now the Vestal Pool, a past President of the Professional Engineers Society, a member of the BPOE Endicott Lodge #1977. a volunteer tax preparer for AARP. He served on the Board of Directors for the Office of the Aged, worked on the Volunteer Senior Net, and was a member of the Vestal United Methodist Church. He also volunteered for Action for Older People. A Funeral Service for George will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 31, 2007, at the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, Inc. 765 Main St., Vestal. The Rev. Michael K. Willis, Pastor of his church, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Those wishing may make contributions in Georges memory to the Memorial Fund at the Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main St., Vestal, NY 13850, or to the National Kidney Foundation, 731 James St., Syracuse, NY 13203.
