Obituary of Robert Crawford Ludden

Binghamton: Robert Crawford Ludden, 85, passed away on January 3, 2015. Bob was a native of Binghamton, NY and was born on August 24, 1929. He was predeceased by his mother, Muriel Killian; stepfather, Donald Killian; and his beloved wife of 40 years, Marian, who passed away in 2014. Bob is survived by his daughters; Donna (Roy) Stehm, Natalie Roberts, Victoria Pangburn and Margo (Roger) Pruitt; grandchildren, Bree Pangburn, Shawnae Pruitt and Daryl Pruitt; stepchildren and their families, Darcy Mitchell, James (Anne) Mitchell, Ron (Terri) Mitchell and Douglas (Anne) Mitchell. Bob studied voice under Jess Weston and sang in many church choirs and choruses in the area, he sang in the Choral Society as a bass soloist under Dr. Fritz Walenburg, Broome Community College, SUNY Binghamton, the IBM Glee Club and the Welch Choral. Bob also sang duets with his wife, Marian, in choirs and choruses locally and briefly in Europe with the travelling First Presbyterian Choir of Endicott. He was employed at IBM for forty years, retiring as a Staff Engineer and a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. After retirement, both Bob and Marian turned to fine arts painting, studying under Ernestine Bucking and Marian Simpson. Bob was a member of The Fine Arts Society of the Southern Tier and had his work shown locally and around the state in Hospitals, libraries, town halls, senior centers, banks, industrial plants and outdoor shows. Bob had volunteered his time to the American Red Cross and the Meals on Wheels program. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 1:30pm at the Union Presbyterian Church, 200 East Main Street, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 300 East Main Street, Endicott on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bob's name to the Lourdes Hospice Program, 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850.
