Henry Love

Obituary of Henry C. Love

Henry C. Love left us on February 22, 2015 to rejoin his friends and family who had gone before him. Hank had lived a full and satisfying life and was looking forward to this reunion. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Marjorie Love; his brother, Levi (Stella) Love; and his sister, Bertha (Vince) Cooke. Henry had been married for 55 years to Cynthia Jaquish Love, whom he missed dearly. He is survived by his daughter, Pam (Tim) Brigham; and son, Chris (Kim) Love; and special grandchildren, Jennelle Brigham, Laura (Tucker) Reed, and Jacob Love. Hank graduated from the Meshoppen High School in 1946. He was an outstanding pitcher for the Meshoppen town baseball team. He led his team to a championship in the Susquehanna-Wyoming League in 1949. Hank worked for IBM Owego for 30 years, on projects such as the B-70, Gemini, Skylab, LAMPS weapon system, and many additional military aircraft. Hank was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years. And even into his mid-eighties he maintained his blueberry bushes, apple trees, and rose bushes. When it was harvest time, he would often show up at your door with bags of apples or boxes of blueberries. He was a wonderful husband and father, always making time to enjoy his family. There will be a celebration of his long life on Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m. at the Vestal Center United Methodist Church. No flowers please, but contributions may be made to the church in his honor.
