Obituary of Ralph Joseph Rarrick

Ralph J. Rarrick, a 55-year resident of Endwell, NY, passed away, following a long, hard-fought illness on Wednesday, April 15, 2015. Ralph was born to Ralph Rarrick Sr. and Florence (Packard) Rarrick in Elmira, NY on November 7, 1927. He worked for Maine-Endwell Central School District for 35 years as a teacher and 45 years as a cross country and baseball coach. During his time there, he developed one of the most successful cross country programs in New York State scholastic sports history, resulting in eight Section 4 Championships, two STAC Championships, and 15-year stretch with a 110-7 dual meet record. Ralph graduated with honors from Elmira Free Academy. Serving in the U.S. Army, he was part of the occupying force in Japan at the conclusion of WWII. After his service, Ralph attended Ithaca College where he earned by his bachelor's and master's degrees in education. Ralph is survived by his wife of 61 years, Juanita (Novello) Rarrick; sister, Shirley Morgan; brother, Thomas Emms; sons, Robert and John; and grandchildren Max and Emilyrose Rarrick. He is predeceased by his beloved brother, Robert Rarrick. The family will receive friends at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main Street, Endicott on Saturday, April 25 at 10:00 a.m. There will be a memorial service directly following at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the cancer research charity of your choice.
