Obituary of Joseph J. Caprio

Joseph Caprio, 97 of Endicott passed away peacefully on Friday September 25, 2015 at Vestal Park Nursing Home. He was born November 25, 1917 in Conesus, New York. He was predeceased by his wife, Sue (Zello) Caprio; a son, Michael Caprio; three sisters, Margaret (Leo) Mooney, Louise Caprio and Claire (Jack) Rummer. Also a brother, Thomas (Gladys) Caprio. He is survived by his son, Stephen Caprio and a brother and sister in-law, Jack and Jeanne Caprio; a sister-in-law, Molly Zello; and many nieces and nephews. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. He enlisted in the United States Navy the Monday after Pearl Harbor. He was a member of American Legion post 82 Endicott. He was a printer for the Binghamton Press. He enjoyed listening to music, especially the Big Band Era and always had a good story to share. The family would like to thank Dr. Rai; a special niece, Dale Mooney; and his nurse, Terry Sick-Swartz. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 701 W. Main St. Endicott on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City at a later date. The family will receive friends at the Church on Saturday Morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Joe's memory may be made to the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, Attn: Deb, 1111 East End Blvd., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711.
