Brian Laud

Obituary of Brian L Laud

My Dearest Brian, you are the love of my life, my true companion! Brian died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his home in Apalachin, New York on Thursday August 11, 2016. Brian was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Adeline Laud. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 46 years, Frances Anne Laud, two daughters and sons in law, Nicole and Stephen Annest and Stephanie and David Russell, grandchildren Gabriella Annest, Marianna Annest, Matthew Russell, and Abigail Russell, his brother Joseph Laud, and also several nieces and nephews. Brian was born on December 8, 1946 in Buffalo, New York. He graduated from Frontier High School in 1965, then attended the University of Buffalo, graduating in 1969 with a dual degree in Mathematics and Statistics. Brian was an accomplished baseball player, and was a starting pitcher for the varsity team during his time at the University of Buffalo. We married on August 29th, 1970 and moved to Springville, New York where we began our life together. Brian taught honors mathematics for nine years at Griffith Institute High School, where he continued his passion for teaching and mentoring outside the classroom, coaching baseball, tennis, and cross country. In 1979 our family moved to Apalachin, New York where Brian worked as a Labor Relations Specialist for New York State United Teachers and later as the Southern Tier Regional office manager for Vestal and Elmira. Brian felt fortunate to help teachers and school employees throughout his nearly 30 year career. He was known among his colleagues as a fierce advocate for those he represented. He was devoted to his family and spent many hours volunteering as a youth soccer coach as his daughters were growing up. Brian was an avid golfer and taught me everything I know about the game. He was a diehard Buffalo Bills fan and overall sports enthusiast, and was honored to be a member of the Vestal Elks. Brian treasured his friendships over the years, including those forged through his work at NYSUT, on the golf courses in both New York and Florida, and at the Elks Lodge. A service is scheduled at Park Terrace United Methodist Church at 30 Glann Road, Apalachin, NY at 4:00pm on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 followed by a celebration of life reception at the Vestal Elks Lodge at 2071 Vestal Pkwy W, Vestal, NY at 5:00 P.M. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your local hospice provider. I will love, honor, and cherish you each and every day I have left here on this earth. Forever and Always!
