Obituary of George J. Wurth

George Wurth, a long-time resident of Vestal, went to be with his Lord on April 3, 2017. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 71 years, Virginia, his parents George and Leora Wurth and his sister Alberta Wurth. He is survived by his loving daughters and their spouses Norma (Gary) Olin of Calabash, NC, Patricia (J. Michael-deceased) Twinam of Clifton Park, NY, JoAnn (Gary) Slick of Glendale, AZ, Lorie Wurth of Endicott, NY and Donna Wurth of Rutledge, GA, 6 grandchildren, 8-1/2 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed golf, making and repairing clocks, camping, bowling and especially playing pinochle, and had a tender heart toward children. George served in WW2 and was wounded in action in the battle of St. Lo France, receiving a purple heart, among other service awards. He was a faithful member of Memorial Park Baptist Church for 50 years, serving as Treasurer and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was also in charge of the food pantry, was a member of the choir and served on numerous committees. He was a role model to his daughters and will be missed by everyone. The family wishes to acknowledge the exceptional care given to him over the years by Dr. Gary Dean. Please join the family in remembering George on Friday, April 7th from 5:00-7:00 PM at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main Street, Vestal, NY. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, April 8th at Memorial Park Baptist Church, 1013 Front Street, Vestal, followed by a graveside committal service at Riverside Cemetery in Endicott.
