Obituary of Roberta A. Hunsinger

Roberta Hunsinger, 90, passed away quietly at Lourdes Hospce on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Wayne; a son David; a daughter, Pamela; and a grandson Shea. She is predeceased by a twin brother, Robert; and a younger sister, Phyllis. Roberta worked as a secretary after High School (Eastern High in Greentown, Indiana). She worked as a secretary for the Dean of the Science School at Purdue University where Wayne went to college. They moved to Endicott in 1956 and lived in a new apartment house on E. Fredericks St. in Endicott. In 1957 they adopted Pam and in 1961 adopted Dave. In 1988, when Shea arrived, she was so thrilled to be a grandma. Roberta was an active church member during her lifetime and was involved in many aspects. She enjoyed getting together with "The Girls" to play bridge once a month and always had a good time being with them. Roberta loved to host dinners and loved meeting many of Wayne's International Business associates, some of whom she kept in touch with for many years. She started playing tennis at 50 and played with family and friends and in a league at the Mill St. tennis facility. She put a tennis racquet in Shea's hand at the age of 2 ½ and hit balls on the back porch. She enjoyed playing well into her 70's. Roberta loved to travel and meet new people and experience new foods and different cultures. She loved animals and had two very special dogs in her life; Jacque and Abbey, that she missed so much when they were gone. Roberta volunteered for over a decade at Wilson Hospital in the surgery waiting room and felt like she really helped the families waiting for their loved ones.
