Obituary of Luther Steven Corey

Luke Corey of Maine, New York passed away peacefully at his home and went to his new home built by his heavenly father our Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday September 5th. He was predeceased by his parents Perry and Laura Corey, brother Herbert Corey and sister Grace Molyneaux. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Shirley Corey, children Steven (Patrica) Corey of Albany NY, David Corey of Florida, Richard (Linda) Corey, Luann (Patrick) Gallagher, Suzanne (Thomas) Eckenrode and his treasured grandchildren Brian, David, Michelle, Kimberly, Joseph, Cassandra, Jacob, Katherine and Kara along with 8 great grandchildren. Luke graduated from Union Endicott High School and started a life-long career (37 years) at IBM as a tool maker. Luke enjoyed deer hunting with his nephew Jack Molyneaux for over 40 years and other family members. He also enjoyed fishing with his family and grandchildren. Luke's favorite hobbies were gardening, singing, guitar playing and watching his grandchildren play sports. Luke played many years in a country and western band named Luke Corey Combo before he decide to dedicate his talents to serving the Lord by being the worship leader at Vestal Free Methodist Church for 30 plus years. Luke also spent time playing in nursing homes, senior centers and with the jail ministry. As much as Luke enjoyed his music ministry he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He would travel to Albany, Florida and many local towns to watch them. The grandchildren would always look to see if he was there. Luke touched many lives with his kind heart and warm smile. He exemplified what Christ love is to other people and his church family. His spiritual and earthly wisdom that he willingly shared with the church board and others will surely be missed but the lives that he touched will live on. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 8th from 5:00-7:00 pm at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC. in Endicott. The burial will be Saturday, September 9th 11:00 am at Maine Cemetery and a celebration of life service to be held Sunday, September 10th, 2:00 pm at New Life Ministries 201 Hill Ave., Endicott. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the excellent service and care provided by the caregivers and Lourdes Hospice.
