Obituary of Michael L. Borgesen

Michael L. Borgesen, 33, passed away abruptly on May 11, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Michael was born in Ithaca, NY, on February 8, 1989, and moved with his parents first to Endicott in 1994, and then to Chenango Heights in 1996. He attended the Special Children's Center in Ithaca, T. J. Watson in Endicott and finally the schools in the Chenango Forks district. He was captain of the swim team at Chenango Forks high school, where he graduated in 2007. Michael held a variety of jobs while earning a black belt in martial arts, as well as associate degrees in Communication and Media Studies, Criminal Justice and Computer Security and Forensics. He continued his studies at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, being awarded a bachelor's degree in Network and Computer Security in May 2021. Michael was predeceased by his mother, Sharon Todia, in November 2021. He is survived by his father, Peter; his uncle, Lars; his cousin, Line; and his most favorite person in the whole world, Line's daughter Emma. He was also fond of numerous members of his mother's very large family in Cleveland, OH, who loved him back, albeit at a distance. He will be remembered in endless stories by his close friends Corey-James Ritter, Dalton Gandy, Harry Beecher, Jeremy Gorman, David Cass, Ryan Winans, Zachary Allen and Kristin Burdick. Michael was a constant pursuer of knowledge, which he always tried to pass on to his family and friends. He loved spending time with his pets, playing tabletop, card and video games, and traveling to Hawaii, Europe and across the US. A small gathering (invitation only) will be arranged over the summer. In lieu of flowers please 'pay it forward' where most needed.
