Obituary of Joan M. Sweet

Joan Marie Sweet, born August 8, 1942, passed peacefully on January 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, who remained at her side throughout her final weeks. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and Ellsworth Bailey, her nephew Stevie, niece Paula, nephew Tommy, and her grandson Mikey. She is survived by her children, Cindy (Bruce) Mikels of Brackney, PA, Joe (Tamara) Paolangeli of CT, Chuck, Kim, and Robert Sweet, all of Binghamton, NY, as well as her four sisters: Linda (Tom) Cuddy, Isabel (Gary) Campo, Jeanette Bailey, and Louise Riner. She is also survived by her dear friend, Pat Cargill. Joan's family was her greatest treasure, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Joan's deep connection to her family extended beyond her children and siblings, as she was the proud matriarch of a family that included many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her kitty, Lizzy, was always by her side, providing her with companionship and comfort in her final days. Joan's unwavering faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She lived her faith with grace, kindness, and love, sharing it with everyone she encountered. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Guthrie-Lourdes Hospice, whose care and support made Joan's last week peaceful and filled with dignity. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday January 28, 2025 at Church of the Holy Family in Endwell at 11AM. May she rest in peace, and may she always be "just peachy"
