Obituary of Margaret (Peg) Fisher
Margaret (Peg) Fisher
December 14, 1937 – January 26, 2025
Margaret (Peg) Fisher, 88, of Johnson City, NY passed away on a bright, sunny day Sunday, January 26, 2025. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bill Fisher. She is survived by her children Martin (Kathryn) Fisher, Kelly (Costas) Arvanitakis and Dan Fisher. Peg is also survived by four grandchildren Cody Arvanitakis (Adrianna Harvey), Colin (Marissa) Arvanitakis, Ally Fisher (Sean Andres) and Larissa Fisher.
Peg was a woman of faith, attending Our Lady of Sorrows in her childhood in Vestal, N.Y. and Our Lady of Good Counsel while lovingly raising her family with her life-long love Bill. Peg attended mass every Sunday she physically could. In her later years at Good Consol she looked forward to seeing "the group" in the back corner of the church before mass, talking about family and the neighborhood.
Academically Peg graduated from Vestal High School in 1955 and Broome Community College in 1957. Professionally Peg was a Teaching Assistant for 28 years at the old George F. Johnson and L.W. West in the Union-Endicott Central School District. In her time there she helped hundreds of striving readers reach grade level. She did so with a firm but loving touch that her students remember. She is also the co-founder of the family business, Fisher Record and Tape where she did anything and everything for the business and family to succeed.
Peg is best known for caring for her family. Peg and Bill's favorite things to do was watching their children and grandchildren compete in sports and perform in music. Peg and Bill also loved to escape to the Casino, dabbling in a little video poker and enjoying each other's company. Having family and friends together was what Peg and Bill loved the most, having cookouts on the patio on June St.
As requested by Peg there will be no calling hours. The Family will have a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
