Obituary of Marie J. Holzman

February 1 ,1962 - March 13,2025

Marie Judge Holzman, 63, of Throop, PA, died Thursday March 13, 2025 at Geisinger CMC HOSPITAL in Scranton, PA following an illness. She was the devoted wife of Paul E Holzman SR.

The couple were married for 22 years. Born February 1, 1962,along with her identical twin sister Marcia in Endwell, N.Y, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Shirley Judge. Marie graduated from M-E Senior High School class of 1980. Marie was employed in the retail sector for 20 plus years until she was unable to due to Muscular Dystrophy, an inherited disorder of muscle that results in the progressive muscle weakness of variable severity, with no known cure. Marie and her sister Marcia took part in a research study for 30 years at the University of Rochester Medical Center with the Principal Investigator Dr. Rabi Tawil, Neurology Department.

Marie felt that by participating in the study maybe she could be of some assistance in finding a cure in future so no one would have to endure that terrible muscle disorder.

Surviving in addition to her husband is her stepson Paul E.Holzman Jr. of Philadelphia PA,

her Brother Joseph Judge of Whitney Point N.Y., her nephews Matthew and Brett Smith and Dylan Judge, and her niece Mikaela Judge and several great nephews and nieces. In addition to her Parents, Marie was preceded in death by her sisters, Marcia Minni and Charlotte “Sherry” Smith.

In Lieu of flowers Marie has requested that donations be made in memory of Marie Judge Holzman to MDA.

Celebration of her life services will be held at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home 6519 rt.434 Apalachin, NY  13732, Saturday May 10^th,  12:00 to 1:00 PM visitation with a 1:00 PM service,  followed by lunch at 2:00 PM at Donoli’s just across the street.
