Obituary of Valerie Sue Race

Valerie Sue Race, 59, passed away peacefully with family by her side, April 1, 2025. She is predeceased by her father, Benjamin Card, brother, William Card, brother-in-law, Glenn Haab, and sisters-in-law, Kay Card and Rosemary Card.

Valerie is survived by her husband, Alan Race, son, Lewis Race, mother, Virginia Card, sister, Deborah Haab, brothers; Wayne Card, Timothy Card (Catherine), Peter Card, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Valerie was full of love and nothing made her happier or more proud than being with her family and friends. She spent hours listening to classic rock, singing karaoke and being the life of any party. Valerie enjoyed DJing with cousin Bo, teaching hunting classes and being the proud mother of Lewis. Left in a wheelchair at the age of 17, Valerie was known for her fierce independence and ability to do anything she set her mind to.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, April 12 at Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main St. Vestal, 11 am to 1 pm, immediately followed by a service at the church.
