Obituary of Lucille J Roberts

Lucille June (Knapp)Roberts Vestal, NY, formerly from Friendsville, PA April 8,1932 - April 22, 2025 93 years old Lucille was a loving, caring woman who deeply adored her family. She was a devout Christian who was always studying her Bible and was an avid reader and lifelong learner. She loved helping people and was a wonderful, gentle soul. Her table always had room for extras and was most content when caring for others. Lucille was born in Endicott, NY to Harold and Edith Maxfield. She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings Alice Sweitzer, Marilyn Steinmetz, Edward Maxfield and is survived by her sister, Ellen Fogle. She was predeceased by her two husbands, Robert Knapp and Stanley Roberts, her son Keith Knapp, stepson Craig Roberts, and grandson Paul Shaffer. She will be deeply missed by her surviving children, Warren (Terry) Knapp, Susan (Bill) Orzell, Lois (Dave) Shaffer, Thomas Knapp, and Cindy (Rick) Holmes. Lucille also had a special place in her heart for her step-children Cindy (Brent) Phelps, Andrew (Patti) Roberts, and Karen Roberts. She adored her 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and loved watching them all grow. One of her favorite pastimes was watching pictures of her family on her digital picture frame, lovingly called "Grandma's TV ". Some of her closest friends were also extended family, her sister-in-law Jeannette Chernega and brother-in-law David Knapp will miss her, and greeting her in Heaven will be her Aunt Joan Drum. Jim and Vickie Lethbridge were also very special people who were the best neighbors she could have asked for. Lucille was an active member of the West Endicott Baptist Church. She loved listening to Pastor Weil giving his sermons and studied the lessons each week. She was loved by many in the church. Her faith was just part of her life. Many thanks to all the caring people at Riverview Manor who welcomed her into their home and took good care of her these last few months. Everyone who knew her loved her. She touched many hearts during her lifetime. She was often described as a sweet, caring lady. We couldn't have asked for a better Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother or friend. Her loving ways will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Memorial services will be held at the West Endicott Baptist Church, 515 Wendell St, Endicott, NY on Tuesday April 29. Calling hours 10-11AM, Service 11AM, with Internment at Riverhurst Cemetery following. A luncheon will follow at the Church for all who wish to attend. Donations, in lieu of flowers, should be sent to West Endicott Baptist Church.
