Obituary of Dr. Angelo Nicholas Ferrara

Dr. Angelo Nicholas Ferrara, a dedicated family man, passed away peacefully from complications of Parkinson's disease on May 13, 2025 at the age of 92. Born on November 11th, 1932, in the Bronx, Angelo's life was marked by service, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones and community. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years Roberta (Bobbye) and his son John of whom he was so proud. Angelo is survived by his daughters Bonnie (Dave) Richardson and Dr. Lori (Dr. Andrew) Finucan. Loving Pa of Travis (April) Richardson, Adam (Megan) Richardson, Tara Richardson, Luke Finucan (Jessica) and Ethan Finucan. Also sadly missed by great-grandson Bennett and great-granddaughters Noelle, Violet, and Elodie. Lovingly remembered by his favorite sister-in-law (cockadoodledo) Patricia Weiss and fondly remembered by Andy's sister, Francine Finucan. Angelo loved athletics and was a proud member of the New York University football team. That experience instilled in him a sense of determination and resilience that would come in handy as he joined the army to serve. After his military service he pursued a career in Chiropractic, achieving the distinction of being the 100th Chiropractor licensed in New York State. He was a true pioneer of the profession and believed wholeheartedly in the body's ability to innately heal itself. He was a person in pursuit of knowledge to help the profession and developed a technique from standard chiropractic methods that helped people throughout his practice through the years. He was an extremely inventive and innovative man, who created learning tools to help patients in the office- one of the most notable being Magnetic Bones. He built a reputable practice dedicated to improving health and well being of his patients with compassion and care. Angelo's professional legacy is carried on by his daughter, Dr. Lori Ferrara with whom he shared fifteen years of practice. As a family growing up in the Bronx, it was particularly special to venture beyond the city. Excursions to Jones Beach and Swan Lake were remarkable. Spending time with dad every Sunday to go ice skating or sledding was always a delight. Later in life, Angelo and Bobbye loved their annual trips to the Caribbean. Family endured many stories particularly about the cuisine. Special memories for the grandkids included, but not limited to, the "Magic Pond" where you cast your line in the water and were assured you reel in a fish every time; or swimming at home; pumping iron at the gym; "Castle Park" and attending Tara's acting lessons at the Cider Mill playhouse; and many other unique experiences. In his fifties, Angelo became a dedicated cyclist and avid sailor. His idea of a perfect day was being on Lake Cayuga with a pleasant breeze which would sail his first boat, Puff, across the lake, with an added reward of a cold beer awaiting him ashore. He appreciated his loved ones joining him especially his first mate Dave. He also dabbled with poetry and short stories, which tugged at our hearts and are keepsakes for life. The family would like to thank his caregiver Vicki, for her loyalty and dedication to him for 4 years and taking time to make him chili and biscotti which he loved. Also special thanks to hospice care and UHS wound care for treating him with such kind, loving care and making him feel comfortable in his last days. In lieu of flowers, please consider paying it forward to your friends and family by giving them the gift of your time, which our dad, grandpa, husband did for us which we will always remember and cherish. A private celebration of life will be observed by family.
