Obituary of Barbara L Ellis

Barbara Ellis (September 1, 1930 – May 17, 2025) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday at home, after briefly entering hospice care. She was predeceased by her parents Otis & Dorothy Jenks, her sisters Alice (Lowell) Brigham and Doris (Bud) Regan, and brother Daniel Jenks. She is survived by her husband of 73 years Thomas Ellis; daughter Kim Maher, sons Kerry (Mary) and Thomas Jr.; grandchildren Dylan, Mackenzie (Jay Clark), Madison, Hunter, Diana and Brandon; and great granddaughter Chloe and Bryce. She met the love of her life at the age of 16, and was married September 15, 1951. Barbara was a graduate of Vestal Central High School and received her RN at Wilson Memorial Hospital Nursing School. She worked briefly at Wilson Hospital before leaving to be a full time mother. She later returned to nursing working for Endicott Visiting Nurses for many years providing health care for the infirm and elderly. After Endicott Visiting Nurses closed down she retired to be a full time grandmother. She had a passion for cooking and baking which many friends and family had the privilege of enjoying. Barbara loved the beach and traveling. She and her family enjoyed a summer long car trip around the United States making many wonderful family memories. She was an avid reader with interests extending across multiple genres and subjects and shared her passion for reading with her children and grandchildren. Services will be Friday May 23rd from 4 to 6PM at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, Route 434, Apalachin, N.Y. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Barbara's memory to the Apalachin Fire Department.
