The Obituary of Edward S. Glavich A Life Remembered It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ed Glavich at his home in Vestal, New York on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Ed was a beloved son, brother and cousin to his family and a valued friend and mentor to countless individuals whose lives he touched. Born in New York City, Ed loved spending his summers at the family homestead in Rocky Point on the north shore of Long Island. He attended the Bronx High School of Science and Fordham University, followed by the Culinary Institute of America where he followed his passion for food and cooking. He loved his time at the Orchard Inn in Glen Spey, NY where he served as Executive Chef, developing new recipes and seasonal fare. His later career centered on providing excellence in dining for elder residents in Broome County at various establishments including Willow Point Nursing Home, Good Shepherd Village at Endwell, Elderwood at Tioga, and United Methodist Homes at Hilltop Retirement Community and Elizabeth Church Manor. His favorite parts of the day were spending time with a resident and finding out what foods meant the most to them or mentoring his staff toward managerial positions and successful careers in the food industry. For the past 25 years, Ed's happiest place was his garden. Nestled in the midst of 3 acres, he expanded the garden each year, producing a plentiful bounty that he loved to share with friends and colleagues. Ed is survived by a brother, Tom Glavich and his wife Jeanette, his sister, Janice Sniffen and her husband Bob, a nephew Brian Sniffen, and nieces Lynn Ryan, Carrie Crozier, Erin Glavich and Niki Turkovic. As per his request, there will not be a service.
