Sandra Gibbs Chambers, 81, of Endwell, NY, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, after years of living with Parkinson's.
Sandra was predeceased by her parents, James and Mary Gibbs, and her brother David Gibbs.
She is survived by her high school sweetheart, turned husband of 58 years, James, her daughter Barbara, her daughter Joanna and son-in-law Eric Finer, and their three girls, Brooke, Sarah, and Kiera. She is also survived by her brother, Stephen Gibbs.
Sandy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Endicott (now the Living Hope Church), where she served as a Deacon and board member of their Nursery School. She was a native of East Falls, PA, and a graduate of the Springside Chestnut Hill Academy and Wilson College. Sandy and Jim spent much time at Quaker Lake, where Sandy was on the board and served as President of the Quaker Lake Cottagers' Association. She also served on the board of the Snake Creek Watershed Association and was a member of the E. L. Rose Conservancy. She was a member and officer of the PEO Sisterhood and also conducted tours of stained-glass windows of notable area churches for the Broome County Council of Churches.
Sandy enjoyed playing in her gardens, growing exotic orchids, and cooking. She never met a plant she couldn't get to bloom, a recipe she couldn't improve, or a coupon she couldn't get doubled. She was widely renowned for her baking abilities and was particularly appreciated for her awesome desserts, usually featuring significant quantities of chocolate. She loved spending time at Quaker Lake with friends and family and hosting dinner parties.
A graveside service is planned for mid-July when all the family is available to attend.
In lieu of flowers, please plant something you enjoy in your garden, or eat your favorite dessert - and think of her.
