"All my heroes have now become ghosts"
My father was my mentor, and hero. I have always aspired to be more like him. He was awesome at teaching me all sorts of great things, and a few stupid things, LOL. I can remember back when he built an electric Go-Cart that we used to ride around the neighborhood. I don't remember much of him restoring the Model A in our basement but still do remember the rumble seat. He taught me so much about cars as we repaired the '66 Mustang repeatedly. I can remember all the paintings he did. The garage wall in and outside always had a mural of some sort. He also did murals on the wall of a gas station with the U-E H.S. Tiger, and then replicated that in the high school pool itself.
I took after him in becoming a Computer Programmer and Yes, I even look like him. Luckily, I think I got the hair from my mother's side of the family since I still have most of mine.
His volunteer work with Habitat For Humanity inspired me to do the same for many years. Some of his most prized accomplishments were the access ramps he built for people. He completed over 60 of them after he retired. As he slowed down and had stop constructing ramps, my mother's health declined and he spent the last 5 or so years tirelessly taking care mom. Always doing more for others than for himself.
I have been very proud to call you father and mentor for 63 years. I hope that I may be remembered even slightly as being a similar facsimile of you.
Thank you, and love you always.
