Joanne Marie Antal (née Shaw)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joanne Marie Antal (née Shaw) of

Vestal, New York, who departed this life on July 4, 2025, at the age of 66.

Joanne was born on January 11, 1959, in Binghamton, New York, to John Shaw Sr. and Mildred

Hanyon, who preceded her in death. She grew up in Binghamton and attended Binghamton

High School. Joanne worked for many years at Target, where she was respected and valued by

her colleagues.

She was a beloved wife to Robert J. Antal, a devoted mother to her daughter Jennifer Qu and

son-in-law Jay Qu, and a proud grandmother to her cherished grandchildren, Madison and

Matthew. Joanne was also a loving sister to Maryjane (Daniel) Starr, Edward (Donna) Shaw,

Nancy (Bryon) Herzog, and Caroline Dickson, and held fond memories of siblings Thresea

Shaw, John Shaw Jr., and George Shaw, who preceded her in death. She also had many nieces

and nephews, along with extended family and dear friends.

Joanne's greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones. She loved watching General

Hospital, adored animals, cherished her numerous beloved pets, and spent many years caring

for her mother-in-law, Lillian Antal. She will be remembered for her kind smile, sense of humor,

strength, and devotion.

Her family and friends will be invited to a celebration of life, which will be planned at a later date.

She will be dearly missed and forever remembered for the love and light she brought into the

lives of all who knew her.
