Christine Rowell Shook Obituary

Christine Rowell Shook passed away on July 8, 2025 just shy of her 75th birthday.


Christine was predeceased by her parents Mary Anne and Wilbur Shook, her big sister, Nancy Shook Bidlack, brother-in-law Jerry Bidlack and nephew Benjamin Bidlack. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Mary and Doug Diegert, her niece Molly Bidlack Bean (Kenneth Bean), her nephews Robert Bidlack, Douglass Bidlack, Joel Diegert (Mariam Vardzelashvili), and Paul Diegert (Meghan Benton), and grandniece Dahlia Diegert and grandnephew Remy Diegert. Christine shared her home with her beloved dog Corey.



Christine lived in the Upper West Side of New York City most of her adult life. She held a bachelor's degree in English literature from Hunter College, and worked as a legal secretary and word processor.



Christine studied ballet as a teenager and acting as a young adult. She practiced yoga and Buddhism. She wrote poetry and published tonka and haibun in on-line poetry journals. She also loved novels, art, theater, and cooking competition shows.



She moved to Binghamton, New York in 2023 to be near her sister and brother-in-law and resided here until her death.



Funeral services will be private.
