Donald R King, 83, passed away on August 3, 2025. Born August 2, 1942, Donald lived a life rooted in dedication to family.
For 20 years, he worked for the Town of Vestal Water Dept, where his strong work ethic left a lasting impression.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife and high-school sweetheart Annette (Ciarlei) King for 46 years until her passing in 2008. Together they built a life centered around love – a legacy carried on by their 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who will remember him fondly as "Grandpa Don" – the playful spirit with an endless supply of jokes and a smile that could light up any room.
He was preceded in death by his son Brett King; parents George King and Lydia Stauffenecker; siblings Shirley, Jean, Dawn, Bob, and Carl; and grandsons Chad Beck and Anthony Vazquez Jr.
Donald is survived by his children Dena (John) Beck, Richard King, Donald (Betsy) King Jr, and Tracy (Eric) King; sisters and brother-in-law Dianne Grover and Joe (Lynn) Ciarlei; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald found joy in life's traditions – especially Christmas morning breakfasts with family – and a passion for auto racing, where many cherished hours were spent on his son's pit crew. A true craftsman, in his ability to fix anything. He enjoyed watching westerns, exploring history, and treasured time spent with his grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Visitation will be held on August 15, 2025, from 12:00-1:00PM at Coleman and Daniels 765 Main St. Vestal with a service to follow at Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
