Vestal, NY – Carolyn A. Truman, 85, returned to her heavenly Father on Thursday, August 14th, 2025 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She is predeceased by her parents, Leroy and Elizabeth Schoonover, step-parents Henry and Martha Chaddock, in-laws Robert and Marion Truman, her brother Jack Schoonover and her nephew James Schoonover. Carolyn is survived by her ever-loving husband and best friend of 68 years, Carle Truman and their children, Robert (Betsy) Truman, William (Teresa) Truman, Richard (Mary Claire) Truman and Jodie (Victor) Pompino; grandchildren Carrie (Mike) Vidal, Steven (Liz) Truman, Trey (Bobbiejo) Truman, Miranda (Jon) Faringer, Victor (Erika) Pompino, Hannah (Owen) Purdy, and Carson Truman; several great-grandchildren, Jazmynn, Jaheim, Liam, Korey, Landon, Connor, Zachary, Madison, Nathan, Oliva, Eden, and Shem. She is also survived by her cousins Ann and Debbie, nephews Jeff and Jay Schoonover, and niece Jane Schoonover.

Carolyn graduated from Union-Endicott High School and shortly after married Carle, where they settled down to raise their family in Vestal. After staying home with her boys for several years, she went to work in the Vestal Central School District as a library and computer lab assistant. She was a den mother for scouts, actively involved in Vestal Fire Department women's auxiliary, a longtime member of the Vestal Methodist Church choir, and was a member of a Christian women's group. Carolyn was a social butterfly who enjoyed camping (for many years at Lake Bonin, PA) and playing games with her family, her flower garden, and her many pets. She was a woman of strong faith who loved and was loved by many people.

The family would like to thank all the staff members at UHS Wilson Hospital for taking care of her during her hospital stay. The Truman family will receive friends at Grace Point Church, Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY on Tuesday, August 19th from 12:00-2:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow.
