David Edward Newman

February 21, 1945 – September 25, 2025

David Edward Newman, 80, of Little Meadows, passed away peacefully with family by his side on September 25, 2025. Born in Endicott, NY, he was the son of the late Muriel and Hartwell Newman.

David is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Carol Volke Newman, with whom he shared many adventures traveling and cheering for their grandchildren at sporting events. He was a devoted father to Alicia (John) Nolt and Alison (Steven Martin) Newman. He was predeceased by his son Darren Newman. He cherished his role as grandfather to Clover and Wesley Martin and Carl and Isaac Nolt. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Gary Newman and many nieces and nephews.

David lived a life marked by quiet strength, thoughtfulness, and devotion to family. He was a longtime member of Little Meadows United Methodist Church and Laborers Local 7, as well as a veteran of the Vietnam War.

A man of many passions, David loved fishing, reading, working in nature, driving his BMW, talking about the stock market, farming ginseng and spending time with his grandchildren. David and Carol loved the home they designed and built together – a place where they welcomed countless gatherings and celebrated differences of opinion, generosity of spirit and the joy of children. His quiet wisdom and gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours at Little Meadows United Methodist Church on Thursday, October 2, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Friday, October 3, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m.

David's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy of thoughtfulness, dedication, and family devotion will never be forgotten.
