June Cherro O'Neil Obituary

June Cherro O'Neil, 85, passed into the loving arms of the Lord on January 3rd 2026 after living a full and beautiful life. She is reunited with her loving husband of 58 years, William J. O'Neil. She is survived by her loving, devoted children, Timothy and Sharon O'Neil, Todd and Michelle O'Neil, Tracy and James Moran; her eight beautiful grandchildren Cameron, Nicholas O'Neil, Riley, Seth O'Neil, James (Alena), Callie, Chelsie, Robert Moran; They were the bright shining stars of her life and she loved them with all her heart. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and loved attending their games, plays and award ceremonies. She cherished every moment they were able to spend together through the years. She is also survived by her loving niece, Diana and Kevin Kresge, loving cousin Jackie Kernan, loving sister-in-law Mary Burdick, brothers-in-law David O'Neil and Robert Craig. She is also survived by many loving special cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and former coworkers. She was the only child of and dearly loved her predeceased parents Angelo and Eve Cherro. She was also predeceased by her father and mother-in-law William and Irene O'Neil, brother-in law, Edward and Fay O'Neil and sister-in-law Suzanne Craig and many uncles, aunts and cousins. She was currently a member of Church of the Holy Family in Endwell. She participated in many activities and attended weekly sessions at the Prayer Chapel. She was devoted to her family and always put their happiness first. She never hesitated to say "I love you" and showed it in a thousand ways. She was a stay-at-home Mom for several years and enjoyed being with and guiding her children. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother and devoted grandmother. She was a loving person with a winning smile, a grand sense of humor, a giving soul and was a caring friend. We are so thankful that she was our best friend, wife, mother and grammy and that she shared with us the daily love of God, her values and loving memories that we will hold close in our hearts forever. She became very involved in Crafts and enjoyed making many decorations for the house inside and outside. She also knitted and crocheted sweaters and Afghans during the winter months for her family to enjoy. She enjoyed sewing and made many of her own clothes and draperies for their home. She also loved baking and cooking and entertaining family and friends. She loved planting and being surrounded by flowers. She enjoyed bowling in a league and also played cards with the neighbor ladies. The family went to Wildwood and Cape May for a week each summer for their summer vacation and also visited many Amusement Parks. She became employed at the Foundation at Binghamton University and then was hired by New York State to work in the Library at the University where she retired after 34 years. Bill and June enjoyed a wonderful life together. They visited their children and grandchildren in Lynchburg, Va., Chicago, Ill., Baltimore, Md. and Cleveland, Oh. They have had lovely trips to Jamaica, Bahamas, Italy, France, England, Switzerland, Ireland, Hawaii and Bermuda at different times. They enjoyed a lovely Princess Cruise to Grand Turk, St. Thomas, Curacao, St. Maarten and another wonderful Cruise to Aruba, Antigua and Barbados to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They've made several trips to Niagara Falls in Canada and to Las Vegas, NV. They also visited Branson, Missouri and Charleston, SC. They took regular trips to Lancaster, PA and loved to attend the Sight and Sound Theater, Dutch Apple Dinner Theater and the American Music Theater. They have taken many Bus Trips to NYC enjoying wonderful Broadway Shows and sightseeing. It surely has been a "Wonderful Life". A funeral mass will be offered Friday January 9th at 11 am at Church of the Holy Family, Endwell. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The Family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the mass. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
