Nancy Guy, 76, of Vestal NY, went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2026. She is survived by her loving children, Jeremy Guy, Jason and Clara Guy, and Jonathan Guy; three beautiful granddaughters, Deanna Proper (Tyler), Emily Guy, and Abby Guy; and one amazing great granddaughter Serenity Proper. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and loved and cherished them with all her heart. She is also survived by her brothers Thomas Brien, John Brien (Amy) and sisters Judy Movic (Edward), Joni Cooper (Gene), and sister-in-law Diane Kelly. She was predeceased by her parents William and Marjorie Brien; her brother William Joseph Brien and sisters Linda LaReu and Mary Bernasky. She will also be survived by the many close friends she has and spent time with often and countless others whom lives she touched.
She is currently a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Vestal.
She was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and had a bachelor's in social work. She started career of service to vulnerable families at Headstart in Binghamton. She left the workforce to raise her three sons. When she returned to the workforce, she continued work focused on serving the needs of children and families at the Department of Social Services for over 30 years in Child Protective Services, The School Project, Daycare, Adoption/Homefinding, and retired as a Child Protective Services supervisor.
Nancy loved to be outside and enjoy her beautiful yard, planting flowers and working in her flower gardens, spending time enjoying the good weather on her deck or front porch, and working in the yard to keep it looking great. She loved working on home improvement projects and always worked to keep her home looking sharp.
Nancy loved to cook dinners for her family and bake goodies to share with family and friends, especially around the holidays. She would bake chocolate chip cookies often as they were her favorite. She was also a major football fan and avid Steelers fan. She never missed a game and her favorite Fall activity was watching the Steelers with her son and seldom missed a game.
She loved to go on daytrips and see different places just to get away for the day. She enjoyed many trips with her sisters and going on cruises and various trips with friends. One of her favorite activities was to go and see plays at the Cider Mill with her friends.
Nancy led a great life full of purpose and commitment, always accepting and including others and never hesitating to lend a hand. If you had the opportunity to cross paths with Nancy, you are truly blessed. When you think of her, remember the warmth and comfort she brought to this world and smile.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday January 19, 2026 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal, NY at 10:30 AM. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30AM with the mass to follow. Her final resting place will be St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Raliegh, NC. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
