Robert D Heeter Obituary

Robert (Bob) D. Heeter, 91, of Apalachin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4th, 2026.



Bob was born on January 12, 1935 in Blossburg, PA to Carolyn and Dale Heeter. Later, he moved to Apalachin, NY. He attended and graduated from Owego Free Academy in 1952. After, he served our country in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1960. On Valentine's Day 1959, he married the love of his life, Janice (Babcock) Heeter. Together, they built a beautiful family. He worked for IBM for over 35 years. He was an avid golfer, and he even recorded a hole-in-one at Hole 12 at Apalachin Golf Course when he was 79 years old. He loved the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, and Dale Earnhardt.



He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kenneth (Bill) Heeter, and a son, Mark Heeter.



He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Janice, his sister: Shirley (Bob) Metera, his sister-in-law, Mary (Roger) Lowe, his children: Rick (Tina) Barton, John D. Heeter, Susan (David) Heeter, and Luann (Gary) Conroy, his grandchildren: Joshua (Carla) Barton, Jessica (Greg) Barton, Selina Downey, Heidi Conroy, and J.R. (Julie) Heeter, his great-grandchildren: Dylan Harris, Gabrielle Farano, Chloe Garrett, and his "little man," J.J. Heeter, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.



Funeral services and Air Force military honors will be held at Riverside Cemetery on Friday, May 22nd, 2026. Additional details will be published in the spring. Those wishing to may make memorial contributions in honor of Bob to the Apalachin Fire Department.
