Augustine Rowley Obituary

Augustine Rowley, lovingly known as Dad, Daddy, and "The King," was born on April 8, 1942. He peacefully transitioned on February 9, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with illness.

In 1974, Augustine came to New York seeking opportunity and building a future. In 1975, he married the love of his life, Sandra Rowley. Their union was a testament to devotion and partnership, and they would have celebrated 51 beautiful years of marriage on February 26, 2026. Their love story remains a lasting example of commitment and faith.

Augustine was a talented and highly skilled construction worker and home builder who truly could fix anything. With gifted hands and a generous heart, he built not only houses, but security and comfort for those he loved. He never hesitated to construct handicapped-accessible ramps for family members or lend his expertise wherever needed. If you called him, he showed up. He was dependable, selfless, and always ready to help.

In addition to his craftsmanship, Augustine was a master chef, especially known for his delicious roti, which he prepared for numerous catered events. If you asked him to cook, he would deliver with excellence and pride. His food brought people together, just as he did.

He was a protector, a provider, and the pillar of his family — truly "The King." As the eldest of six siblings, he cherished and loved them deeply: Monica Rowley, Judith Henry, Annette Rowley, Beverly Rowley, Tony Rowley, and Junior Rowley (deceased).

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Sandra Rowley; his children, Michelle Rowley, Fitzroy Z. Rowley, Cassandra McDougal (Hayden), and Dixieann Favor (James). He was a proud and loving grandfather — affectionately called "Daddy" by his grandchildren — whom he adored and spoiled: Sonya Witcher (great-granddaughter Madison), Jahmel Rowley, Jermiah Rowley, Jazmine Rowley, Charisma Daly (great-grandson Caidin), Rayshawn Mathurin (Junior Grandfather-in-law), Teandra George, Jayshawn Favor, Nekoro Rowley, Sadiki Rowley, and Tahirah Rowley.

He also leaves behind his brothers- and sisters-in-law: Timothy Dally, Viona Daly, Laurel Daly (deceased), Joan Irish, Cherry Irish Daly, Eugene Irish, and Leslie Irish. Augustine deeply loved his Uncle Poney, along with his many nieces and nephews, for whom he would show up at any time they needed him.

Augustine was a man of faith. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in God's promise:

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." – John 14:3 (NIV)

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." – Matthew 5:4

God said it was time for His faithful servant to come home and rest.

Augustine Rowley's legacy of love, strength, generosity, and unwavering dedication to family will live on in all who knew and loved him.

A Prayer of Peace

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for the life of Augustine Rowley —

for his strength, his love, his protection,

and the many ways he showed up for us.

Lord, You called him home to rest,

and though our hearts are heavy,

we trust Your promise.

Comfort us in our sorrow.

Strengthen us in the days ahead.

Help us carry forward his legacy of love,

hard work, and faith.

May we honor him not only in words,

but in the way we live.

Until we meet again,

rest peacefully, Dad.

Amen.
