Christine (Peterson) Wunders, 73, of Apalachin, NY, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on February 27, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Christine was born on April 27, 1952, in the Bronx, New York. She graduated from Vestal Central High School in 1970 and later attended Broome Community College, where she studied early childhood education. She faithfully put that passion into practice through her long and dedicated career with the Handicapped Children's Association, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of many children and families.

A woman of remarkable faith that blossomed outward in love, comfort, and selfless giving to family, friends, and even strangers. Her legacy of hope, kindness, faith, and unconditional love will live on in all who knew her. Her nurturing spirit brought a sense of security, safety, peace, and joy to those around her, and her humor and humility brought countless smiles.

A devout Christian, her life was a gentle testimony to the love and example of Christ. A love of Scripture reading, devotionals, and songs of faith flowed out from a quiet but powerful inner life of prayer. Faith, hope, and love were all evident in her final weeks and hours. Christine cherished the gentle and simple blessings of the life God gives us — a cup of afternoon tea, a walk with friends, sending out birthday cards, and especially being with her family.

She was a pillar of strength and the solid cornerstone of her family, both immediate and extended. Christine was front and center at her grandchildren's sporting and school events, beaming with pride as she watched them grow and succeed. Her grandchildren, Grant and Claire, were truly the light of her life.

Steady, dependable, full of generosity, Christine was always there for family or friends any time of day or night. Nothing brought her more joy than her children, James and Kimberly, and their spouses (Heather and Travis) who became cherished members of her heart and home. Her husband, Robert, of 50 years was her lifelong partner, best friend, and the love of her life.

Christine is also lovingly remembered by her brothers, Bob and Bill Peterson, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was the glue that held her extended family together. To Christine, friends were truly like family and were loved just the same. She would have named each of you individually, but the list is long. Please know that you are, and always will be, deeply special to her.

Christine found great comfort in her faith and the assurance that her Redeemer lives, and she is with Him now.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Wunders; her children, James (Heather) Wunders and Kimberly (Travis) Robinson; her grandchildren, Grant and Claire Robinson; her brothers, Robert (Colleen) Peterson and William (Debra) Peterson; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Virginia and Carl Peterson.

A service to honor her life and faith will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Vestal Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home. The family will receive loved ones during calling hours from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a funeral service to follow immediately on site at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Handicap Children's Association.
