Douglas John Rose Sr. Obituary
Douglas John Rose, Sr., 66, of Vestal, died on Friday, March 20, 2026, at home and surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his beautiful grandson, Cooper John Rose, and his parents Richard and Lois Rose.
Doug is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Patricia; his daughter, Emily; his son, Doug, Jr. (Tiffany); his sister, Linda; his sister-in-law Tescha Borgstrom (Laurie); his brother-in-law Ted Borgstrom (Nancy), niece, Sarah, nephew, Sam; and his faithful companion, Max. A special thanks to close friends Mitch and Laurie Bomysoad, Madeline and Lil Bomysoad, Doug's brotherhood of the Vestal Fire Department, and so many other dear friends. Thank you also to the wonderful staff at Broome Oncology.
Doug dedicated his life to public service. Joining at 16, he dedicated over 50 years of his life to the Vestal Volunteer Fire Department, serving as a firefighter, an officer, station chief, and department chief. He was a proud 20 year veteran of the Endicott Police Department. Doug was the most proud of his children, Emily and D.J. He loved spending time with his family and his children were truly his greatest achievement. Doug enjoyed watching ships and sunsets at the River, watching hockey and the Yankees, doing Sodoku puzzles, and, oh by the way, doing his fire reports.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Vestal Fire Station 1, The Fred W. Singer Training Facility, the Vestal Volunteer Emergency Squad, or the Humane Society.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 28th, 2026 at the Vestal United Methodist Church, with the family receiving friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm and a service immediately following. Arrangements by Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC.
