Richard D. Brown Obituary
Richard "Zip" Brown of Friendsville, Pennsylvania passed away on April 17, 2026. Born on March 3, 1955, in Oneonta, New York, Richard lived a life that was anything but ordinary. He was known for his adventurous spirit, quick wit, and the easy charm that made everyone feel like an old friend.
Zip's passions were many and always a little unconventional. He was an avid bird watcher and gardener. His green thumb extended beyond the vegetable patch, and those who knew him understood his deep appreciation for nature in all its forms. He loved the challenge of living simply and was fascinated by primitive lifestyles, always eager to learn new ways to live closer to the earth. Zip's legacy of humor, resourcefulness, and learning will be carried forward by those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a rare soul who walked through life with a generous heart.
Zip is survived by his daughter, Jenny (Brown) Hall; his sons, Ricky Brown and DJ Brown; and his sister, Kathryn Brown. 8 Grandchildren, Dominic Hall, Richard Brown, Logen Hall, Emma Brown, Sawyer Brown, Judah Brown, Asher Brown, and Ezra Brown. 2 Great Grandchildren, Jasper Hall and Weston Hall. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Robert Brown and Eleanor Bailey.
Calling hours will be held on Friday May 1st, 2026 from 4-6pm with services to follow. Coleman & Daniels 765 Main St Vestal, NY 13850. A celebration of Zip's life will be held this summer.
