Celebrating the Life of Coralie "Corky" Cavanaugh

December 16, 1933 – April 22, 2026

Coralie (Dorchester) Cavanaugh, a woman whose life was as vibrant and well-tended as the gardens she loved, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, at the age of 92.

Born on December 16, 1933, to Neil and Dorothy Dorchester, Coralie—affectionately known as "Corky"—carried a spirit of adventure and a sharp wit throughout her nine decades. She was a woman of many stories, often reminiscing about her days as the first-chair trombone player in school, a feat she recalled with immense pride.

Corky shared a life of devotion with her late husband, James Cavanaugh. Whether she was joining him at well-drilling sites or traveling the high seas on cruises with her cousin, she embraced every journey with curiosity. In her later years, her greatest joy was found in the successes of her family, never missing a chance to talk about her granddaughter's band competitions or the "adventures" of her youth.

A longtime and dedicated member of the Montrose Garden Club, Corky had a legendary green thumb. She found peace in the soil and beauty in the bloom, a passion she shared with everyone around her.

Family Legacy:

Corky was predeceased by her beloved husband, James Cavanaugh; her daughter, Jeannie Rouse; her brother, Lason Dorchester; and her sister, Jean Hill. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by: Granddaughter & Grandson-in-law: Amie and Sean Pitman, Great-Grandchildren: Teagan and Killian, Extended Family: A wide circle of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were touched by her kindness and her stories.

Family and friends are invited to honor Corky's life on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., Endicott, NY, for visitation from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM, with a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Dimock Cemetery, Dimock PA. A Living Tribute.. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Corky's memory in the way she would have loved most: plant something beautiful. Whether it is a perennial in your backyard or a bright bloom in a window box, may it serve as a reminder of a life truly well lived and well loved.
