William T Paccone Obituary
William "Bill" T. Paccone , of Brackney, PA, passed away peacefully on June 9th, 2026 after a struggle with health issues and his family by his side throughout. He was predeceased by his parents Hector and Bertha Paccone. He is survived by his loving wife Marietta B. Della Penna; his brother Robert Paccone, Richard Paccone, and sister Susan Scott; children, David, Larry, Ted, and Lynda; step-daughters Renee, Nicole, and Denise; numerous grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family.
Bill was born in the Bronx, NY, and his life lead him around the world, and finally to upstate NY. Bill graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in NYC, Fordham University, served in the army in Korea , and then went on an adventure teaching English overseas, his longest stint in Germany. He returned to the US, and started teaching Writing and Literature in high schools. He taught at Mount Vernon HS and North Syracuse HS before being recruited to teach at the newly consolidate Maine-Endwell Senior High School. Raising a family, and being involved in the community of Apalachin, NY, he spent over 30 years teaching at Maine-Endwell, while getting his Masters Degree in Literature and Education from SUNY Binghamton. His teaching also included later in his career, summers with the Upward Bound Program at SUNY.
After retirement, Bill and Marietta, built a home on Longford Lake in Brackney, PA. He is well known for his love of the lake, often swimming the perimeter of the lake, and then spending hours in his canoe, and john boat, exploring each little bit of the water and shoreline. When he wasn't in or on the water, he was sitting in his favorite chair, voraciously reading from his large and always growing library, and listening to his voluminous classical music collection. Bill and his wife, Marietta, also spent nearly a decade as companion volunteers at Mercy House in Endicott, as both always were interested in giving through their time and numerous recurring donations to groups and causes they held important.
Early in his career in Apalachin, NY Bill was an integral part of the establishment of the Southern Tier Eye Bank, which focused on corneal donations and transplants. He carried this mission of giving through his life, and was a part of the Anatomical Gift Program at SUNY Upstate Medical Center. His wishes have been fulfilled by the family. There will be no service, and the family requests that any remembrance be made with a donation in his name to Mercy House in Endicott, NY, or to the SUNY Upstate Anatomical Gift Program in Syracuse, NY.
