Born in Binghamton, New York, Patti was a beacon of light and strength from the very start. Patti found her calling as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her years of service at Lourdes Hospital and Vestal Nursing Center were marked by her gentle touch and genuine care for her patients, many of whom regarded her as more than just a caregiver; evident by the love and care that she gave to Marty Carrico during his life and final years. Patti's love story with her late husband, Donald Ackley, was one of deep devotion and partnership. Married for 26 beautiful years, they shared countless memories and dreams. She was the beloved matriarch of a large and vibrant family. Preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Darrah and Shirely Darrah as well as beloved siblings, Calvin Darrah and Carol Darrah. Patti is survived by her children, Richard Schrader (Michele Gardiner), Kristi Wetzelberg (Eric). David Carrico (Michelle Balcer), and Dustin Carrico. Her grandchildren, Nathan Wetzelberg (Laura), Abigail Wetzelberg (Kyle Youdas), Kaleb Schrader (Sayge Poland), Molly Wetzelberg (Josh Fisher), Hailey Weeks, Breonna Schrader, and Logan Schrader, and her beloved great grandchildren, Brantley Carr and Nevaeh Schrader. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her dear friend, Kathleen Ward, whose companionship brought joy to Patti's days. Pattis life was filled with simple pleasures that brought her immense joy especially the casino, scratch-offs, and the peacefulness of the beach. She loved rummage sales, and had a beautiful collection of baby dolls. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The American Cancer Society, a cause close to her heart. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Broome Oncology, the Oncology floor at Wilson Hospital, and Guthrie Lourdes Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided.
