Obituary of Victor Ray Rubin

Victor R. Rubin Victor R. Rubin, age 93, passed away after a lengthy illness on August 2nd, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Jeanette Rubin, and 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Victor was born in Canton, OH, served in the United States Marine Corp, and was stationed in the South Pacific during WWII. He came home and married the "Girl Next Door", Virginia Pollock Rubin. After their marriage, they followed Vic's brothers to NYS for jobs at IBM. Vic retired after 36 years from IBM. They lived 30 years in Vestal and then followed Vic's brothers to retire in Cape Coral, FL. They had 20 years in Florida enjoying golfing and the nice weather. They moved back to Endicott in later years to be close to family. Dad was adored and loved by all who knew him; he was the favorite uncle, the peacemaker, our anchor. He was the calm in the storm. He had an easy way about him that everybody loved. He gave great advice and loved to keep busy with projects. In his younger years he built 2 houses for the family. He loved to pour cement and he made sure that his 3 daughters knew how to do these things. He loved hunting, fishing, and family vacations at his cottage on Lake Ontario. He was our rock and we will forever miss him. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Virginia Rubin; and 3 daughters, Patricia (Paul) Cramer of Phoenix, AZ, Rebecca (Thomas) King of Endwell, NY and Vickie (Paul) Jacobson of Vestal, NY; 6 grandchildren, Sandi (Rick) Schroder, Phoenix, AZ, Karen (Wayne) Dragon, Simi Valley, CA, Geoff King, Washington, DC, Greg King, Denver, CO, Jennifer (Brian) Bittner, Burlington, VT and Matthew Jacobson, Camden, ME. Also surviving are 3 great-grandchildren, Madison, Wyatt and Noah Dragon. Vic was cremated and we will be holding a celebration of his life on August 24th. Time will be announced later in the paper. In lieu of flowers, you can send a donation to the Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main St., Vestal, NY 13850 or the charity of your choice . We would like to thank UHS Home Care, Professional Home Care, Twin Tier and Ideal who gave exceptional care and helped make his life a little easier. Also Dr. Baron, Dr. Vincens, and Dr. S. Patel gave Dad fantastic care. We are forever grateful for their kindness and respectful care and wisdom. Dad was an exceptional husband, father, and human being and will be forever etched in our souls! He has been reunited with his beloved family and is "flying with the angels now". He will be watching over us until we meet again
