Obituary of Vera M. Kurkoski

Vera M. Kukoski Nee Ostophy Vera Kurkoski, 92, entered into eternal life on September 1st, 2013 after a short illness. She was born in Owego, NY on February 5th, 1921. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Helen Ostophy; sister, Mary Gazdik; and her husband of 65 years, Henry Kurkoski Sr. She is survived by her son, Henry Jr. and his wife Gerry of Endicott; daughter, Susan Warren and her husband Dave Warren of Chenango Bridge; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Kurkoski and his wife Jenn of Binghamton, Jonathan Kurkoski and his wife Susan of Monroe, CT, Sheeva Vaziri of Chenango Bridge; great-grandchildren, Lydia, Bryce, Nathan and Greta; and many special nieces and nephews. She held a special place in her heart for the Dariush Vaziri family, Peachtree City, GA. She owned and operated the Coffee Pot Restaurant with her husband for 25 years on Endicott's north side. Vera was a kind and gentle soul whose love and selflessness had a positive influence on the many lives she touched. She will be remembered for her keen mind and great wisdom. She was a 65 year member of St. Casimir's Parish in Endicott. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of the Emergency Department and South Tower 5 at Wilson Medical Center for the excellent care they extended to Vera during her final days. The family will receive friends at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 East Main St., Endicott, Wednesday, September 4th, from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, September 5th, at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 306 Odell Ave, Endicott at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary-St. Patrick Cemetery, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Vera's memory can be made to the Humane Society, 2 Jackson Ave., Binghamton, NY 13903. Eternal rest grant unto your servant Vera, O Lord.
