Obituary of Mary K Bradt

Mary Kamler Bradt Mary Kamler Bradt, 100, of Endicott passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013 at Ideal Senior Living Center. Born Mary Elizabeth Kamler in Olean, NY on March 17, 1913, she was educated in the Olean Public Schools and graduated from Cortland Normal School, now SUNY Cortland. In 1936 she married Paul Bradt of Groton, NY. They lived in several small towns in upstate New York before settling in Endicott in 1949 with their five young children. Mary taught fourth grade in the Union-Endicott School District from 1956 to 1971. When her beloved Paul passed away in 1972, she turned her attention to doing for others. She was a devoted member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, and in 1985 she was commissioned as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a tireless volunteer for her parish community for more than three decades. In addition to her charitable commitments Mary was an avid reader, an accomplished seamstress, a talented pianist, and a particularly fine baker ("No one could make a pie like Mom!"). She also loved to travel, play bridge, and visit with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered by all who knew and loved her for her unwavering faith, boundless energy, and joyful spirit. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Paul; her parents, Max and Pauline Kamler; and her brothers, Joseph, Richard, Harold, and Donald Kamler. She is survived by all of her children and their spouses, Charles and Freda Bradt, David and Lois Bradt, Mary Lynne and David Currie, Jack Bradt and Lorrie Smith, and Nancy and Raymond Koliander. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mary's children would like to thank the dedicated staff at Ideal Senior Living Center for their attentive care during her residence there and especially for the devotion shown her in her final days at Ideal Skilled Nursing Facility. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Ambrose Church, Endicott, on Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Church on Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Mary may be made to a charity of one's choice . Arrangements are by Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., Endicott.
