Obituary of Mary Catherine Dixon

Mary Catherine Dixon Mary Catherine Dixon, 84, of Endicott, passed away Friday, September 20, 2013, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Caroline DeWan; and her husband, Robert H. Dixon. She is survived by her 6 children, Robert J. and Susan Dixon of Portland, ME, Timothy J. and Debra Dixon of Windsor, Richard J. and Denise Dixon of Charlotte, NC, William J. Dixon of Vestal, Kathleen and Fran Nicastro of Palm Harbor, FL, Beth and Peter Paulson of Chatham, NJ; 10 grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Dixon of Portland, ME, Christopher, Mary Grace and Emily Dixon of Windsor, NY, Lauren Rose Dixon of Vestal, Landon and Caroline Paulson of Chatham, NJ, Vincent and Olivia Nicastro of Palm Harbor, FL; 4 great-grandchildren, Liam Dixon, Darren, Aubrey and Delaney Dixon; her brothers and sisters, C. Anthony and Judy DeWan of Royal Oak, MI, Barbara Burke, Bethel, CT, twin brother, James E. and Bernice DeWan of Kirkwood, NY, Edmund J. and Sherry DeWan of Urbana IL, George L. and Mary DeWan of Huntington, NY, Sister Virginia DeWan SSCM of Dansville, PA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born in Binghamton and graduated from Whitney Point Central Schools. She was a member of St. Ambrose Church and the Church Choir and its pastoral ministry, a member of Ideal Hospital Auxiliary, honorary member of the NYS Teachers Federation, Vice President, Coach and Manager of the Endicott Youth Softball, a member of Broome County Right to Life Committee and the NYS Right to Life Party. She was a two-time candidate for the US House of Representatives, National Republican-Eagle Forum, and a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts of America. She was a seamstress for local theatre groups and a volunteer for St. Ambrose Parochial Schools. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. from St. Ambrose Church, Endicott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home LLC, 765 Main St., Vestal Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.
