Obituary of Janice C Judge

Janice Judge Janice Judge passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior in the evening of Saturday, October 5, 2013. Born in Statesville, NC on May 20, 1945 to Elliott and Revellius (Sue) Caldwell, Janice was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and godmother with a passion for music and a flair for life. In October 2012, she was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer. After a valiant year-long fight, Janice went to be with her Lord. She loved Jesus Christ and was never shy to let anyone know. She had a special way with people and those acquainted with her knew that her smile could illuminate any room. At the age of 15, Janice met her husband, Harry, in church and the two were married four years later on March 22, 1964. This union was blessed with three children, Pamela, Connie, and Jonathan (JD). Janice received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Cheyney State Teacher's College and her Master's degree in Music from SUNY Fredonia. She was well-known throughout the Southern Tier for playing the piano and conducting the Binghamton Community Gospel Choir and Angelic Voices of Praise; her involvement with Women's Aglow, leading worship at Women's Conferences and sharing her love of music at local churches. She was a faithful member, praise leader and Music Director at Faith Evangelistic Church, Johnson City. A stay-at-home mother for several years, Janice briefly taught at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School in Binghamton and George H. Nichols Elementary School in Endicott. She returned to the workforce full-time as an elementary music teacher at Horace Mann Elementary School in Binghamton, touching the hearts of many with her love for her students, teaching, and music. The personal quote that Janice taught and lived by was "keep a smile on your face, and let love rule in your heart". This quote was made into a song, sung by her students at the beginning of each class and recited by them at the end of each class. After decades at Horace Mann, Janice retired from teaching, but continued to be a praise leader and pianist at various local churches. Janice is survived by her husband, Harry Judge; mother, Revellius Caldwell; siblings, JoAnne Williams, Constance (Johnny) Prioleau, Dolores (Rickie) Carroll, David (Elaine) Caldwell, and Charles (Jackie) Caldwell; daughter, Constance (Brian) Hughes; and grandchildren, Lateisha (Benson) Judge-Ulrich, Caleb Walker, Alondra Hughes, Xavian Hughes, and Joshua Walford; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and godchildren. She is predeceased by her father, Elliott, and her children, Jonathan and Pamela. Calling hours will be Friday, October 11, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main Street, Endicott, NY 13760. The Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, October 12, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 17 Nanticoke Ave., Endicott, NY 13760 with viewing one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Guthrie Clinic (in check memo, write Clinic Cancer Center), 1 Guthrie Square, Sayre, PA 18840.
