Obituary of Francis R. Halligan

Francis Robert Halligan 94, left this earth peacefully on Tuesday October 18, 2016. He was predeceased by his parents Francis and Marguerite Halligan. He is survived by his loving wife Joan of 71 years, daughter and son in law Marguerite and Joseph Monforte, son and daughter in law David and Pat Halligan, grandchildren Martin Monforte, Maria and Sandro Sciarra, Joseph and Karen Monforte, Nicole and William Terry, Michael and Michelle Halligan. Great grandchildren Jessica, Sandro Giovanni, Gianluca, Joshua, Sophia, Joseph, Austin, Morgan and Elijah. Francis graduated Binghamton North High School, served in the US Army during World War II where he met and married his English war bride, career at IBM for over 30 years, he enjoyed a lifetime of golf from caddying, playing and watching. Springtime he watched the Boston Red Sox and in the Fall NY Giants. Francis leaves behind a legacy of love and courage to his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Francis always imparted courage and confidence to his family. He was a strong and courageous man who made a positive impact upon everyone he came in contact with. Francis took special pride in being a grandfather and great grandfather. He always showed in his grandchildren and their activities. He was always quick to grant wise advice and guidance. As a supportive grandfather, he attended many sporting events and school related activities. Francis was radiant in the presence of his great grandchildren. He was proud of their distinctive personalities and their wide eyed hopefulness. A funeral service will be held at Union Presbyterian Church 200 East Main Street, Endicott, Friday at 11AM. Family will receive friends at the church starting at 10:00 until the time of service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are being made by Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, LLC. in Endicott.
