Obituary of Ronald Smeltzer

Ronald Smeltzer, 82 of Endicott, loyal husband and partner of Doris, Married 53 years. Ron is predeceased by his parents, Phillip and Charlotte Smeltzer. Survived by His Children Calvin, Doreen (Mark Petrush), Dianna and Ronald Jr., 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren .His Brother Randolph. Ron was a self-made successful businessman with 50 years in the sewing machine trade, working for meals-on-wheels and the B.C. Open & Dick's Open golf tournaments in his retirement. Ron was also a generous supporter of community events and organizations including the Endicott Elks, Binghamton Rotary, PBS , and the Roberson Center. He was a past Board Member for the Endicott Boys & Girls Club of Western Broome. Ron was an avid lifetime fan of the game of basketball, from the Ravenna High School team to the Senior Olympics. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday January 5, 2017 at 6 pm from the Coleman & Daniels, Funeral Home, LLC, 300 E. Main St., Endicott. The Rev. Mark Kimpland will officiate. Entombment will be held at Vestal Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday; from 4 pm until service time at 6 pm. Endicott Elks Lodge #1977 B.P.O.E will conduct a Lodge of Sorrows Service Thursday at 5:45p.m at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Contributions may be made in Ron's memory to Meals On Wheels of Western Broome County, 705 W. Main St., #4, Endicott, NY 13760.
