Obituary of Joann M. Brinkman

Joann Margaret Brinkman, 88, of Apalachin, NY, passed away due to complications of a stroke on August 1, 2023. She was born in Binghamton, NY. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 71 years, Kenneth, a short 5 months ago; her parents Edith and John Hogan; her brother John Donald Hogan; and brother-in-law, Ronald F. Brinkman. She is survived by her five daughters; Judy (Alan) Nice, Jill (David) Patak, Joni (Craig) Whitney, Jan LaFountaine, and Jeanne (Jeff) Rowe. Also survived by; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Dorothy Brinkman; and sister-in-law Anna Craig Hogan. Her legacy includes 12 grandchildren: Tim, Jocelyn, Jason, Heather, Lindsay, Derek, Kristi, Kyle, Carlye, Colton, Zach and Nate; 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mom's favorite things to do were varied and numerous. She loved spending time with her family, traveling to Europe, and taking flying lessons, loved to walk with her friends in the neighborhood, play cards weekly with her girlfriends, studied macrobiotics in Boston, MA, volunteering in the food pantry at Tioga County Rural Ministries and the Apalachin Library, playing the piano, camping, bowling and golfing. Mom was very active in her church preparing food for various events, and the Altar and Rosary Society. In August 2022, we had a beautiful celebration of their 70th wedding anniversary. Mom had a deep faith and she lived it every day. She was a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all. Calling hours will be Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 9am to 10am, followed by a funeral mass at Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis St., Endwell, NY with Father Clarence Rumble officiating.
