Janet Budnovitch

Obituary of Janet Budnovitch

Janet Budnovitch, age 83, returned home to our Lord on September 3rd, 2023 after a life well lived, serving others, leaving joy wherever she went and, later in life, suffering from progressive dementia. She died peacefully, loved by family, friends and all that knew her. She was predeceased by her parents, John Sr. and Romaine Howells and her brother, John Jr. (wife Maureen). She is survived by her loving husband of more than 59 years, Michael (Endicott, NY); two children, son Robert Budnovitch (West Springfield, MA), daughter Lynne Budnovitch and her partner Sean Tully (New Hope, PA); grandchildren Richard and Allyssa and nieces and nephews. Janet was the matriarch of our family, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She had a deep and unconditional love for her family, especially her husband, who lovingly cared for her these past years. Janet worked as an aide on a special education bus for over 20 years for the Union Endicott school district. Known to her students as Mrs. Bud, she loved children and had a special way with those that needed extra care and support. They in turn loved her back. She spent over 30 years with family and friends at Cayuga lake enjoying cookouts, wine tasting contests and fishing. She created the ceramic trophy for the annual Fishing contest which she won twice. Janet was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Endicott for over 40 years serving as a deacon and volunteering for community suppers and church dinners in addition to her work with the Meals on Wheels organization. Janet always had a genuine smile for everyone, couldn't help but strike up a conversation with anyone she met and had an infectious sense of humor. The family would like to thank those that cared for her at Ideal Senior Living Center especially those in the Daisy section. Visitation will be held at Living Hope Church, 29 Grant Ave, Endicott, NY on Saturday, September 9th, 2023 from 10am to noon with a brief memorial service to follow.
