Obituary of David P. Fancher

David P. Fancher of Vestal: David P. Fancher, 58, of Vestal, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at his home with his loving wife and daughter by his side. He was predeceased by his father, Louis Fancher, and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Judy (Gable) Fancher; and his beloved daughter, Ashley Fancher; his mother, Joan Fancher; his sisters, Christine and Wayne Martin and Kathy and Steve Gordon; and brothers, Tom and Elaine Fancher, Richard and Teri Fancher, Jim and Colleen Fancher, John and Eileen Fancher, Mike and Jennifer Fancher and Bill and Mary Fancher; many nieces, nephews and cousins. David was a 35 year employee of CP Railroad and was general chairman of the TCU. He was an avid sportsman having played Triple A Baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirates and was an all star pitcher on the church softball team as well as an MVP shortstop for the Sullivan Roofing Softball Team. He also enjoyed both golf and bowling. Most of all he was devoted to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a loving husband and father. In spite of his diagnosis of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) he always remained positive, happy, joyful and brave. The family wishes to express their thanks to Kelly, Deb, and Lourdes Hospice and also to Kim who helped in making it possible that David could remain home for the duration of his illness. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at 12:30 p.m. from the Valleyview Alliance Church, 11 Foster Road, Vestal with the Rev. David Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Great Bend, PA.
