Obituary of Robert L. Garrison

Robert L. Garrison Johnson City: Robert L. Garrison, 82, of Johnson City, passed into his next life on November 20, 2012 at James G. Johnston Nursing Home in Johnson City. Bob was born on June 27, 1930 in Shickshinny, PA. He graduated from the Garrison Memorial High School in Shickshinny, PA and Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, PA. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954-1956. He retired from IBM after 30 years of service in Owego and Huntsville, AL. In retirement, he pursued hobbies in woodworking and golf. He was a faithful and long-standing member of the Central United Methodist Church in Endicott and its Wesley Class. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Nola Garrison; a brother, Adrian and his wife, Jane; two sisters, Elizabeth and her husband, Elbert Rockel, Beatrice and her husband, Albert Seigfried; and a nephew, Stephen Seigfried. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley (Bertram) Garrison; three sons and families, Ralph and wife, Patty, and grandchildren, Stephanie, Michael, and Elizabeth of Bethel, CT, Robert and wife, Leslee, and grandchildren, Codie and Casie of Cortland, and David and wife, Mary Kay, and grandchildren, Katie, Kellie, and Kristen of Vestal. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bob loved his family. His grandchildren were the lights of his life. He and Shirley followed all of their activities in school, music, and sports. The family would like to thank his doctors who cared for him over the years, Dr. Ron Harris, Dr. Edward Miller, Dr. Amr Shady, Dr. Khalid, and Dr. Vincent Stamato, also for the loving care at Wilson Hospital, Binghamton General Transitional Care Unit, and James G. Johnston Nursing Home. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at Central United Memorial Church, 17 Nanticoke Ave., Endicott, on Saturday, November 24th, at 11 a.m., led by his Pastor, Rev. Mark Marino, with calling hours from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Vestal Memorial Park Cemetery, Vestal.
