Obituary of Carolyn Schmidt

Carolyn B. Schmidt Our heavenly father called his beloved daughter, Carolyn B. (Cochran) Schmidt, 97, home on Saturday, March 23, 2013. She gently passed away in Hospice Care at James G. Johnson Nursing Home, Johnson City, New York, attended by members of the family. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Howard J. Schmidt, her parents Joseph and Mina (Ruhlen) Cochran, and her daughter, Carol Budnikas. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Schmidt and her husband Harold Featherman, Bloomfield, NY; and sons John G. and Lorraine Schmidt, Schenectady, NY, Terry and Beverly Schmidt, Austin, TX, Eric and Janice Schmidt, Plainville, CT; grandchildren Aaron Widrick, Springwater, NY; Graham and Christina Widrick, Fairport, NY; John L. and Tina Schmidt, Schenectady, NY; Derik and Katja Schmidt, Schenectady, NY; Elizabeth Schmidt, Corpus Christi, TX; Valerie Schmidt, Babylon, NY; Nathan Schmidt, Plainville, CT; great-grandchildren, Griffin and Annika Widrick; Jake, Samantha and Evan Schmidt; Vivian and Grayson Schmidt; nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews. Carolyn was employed by Rounds Fuel Co., Lacey B. Coal Co. and Woolworth's; was an active member of both Central Methodist Church and more recently Union Presbyterian Church serving as a Deacon for eight years. She lived a life of service, believed in God, practiced her faith, and was the heart of the family. She enjoyed golf, bridge, board and card games. Carolyn especially wanted her family and friends to know how grateful she was for the love, support and kindness given throughout her life. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, at the Union Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Main St., Endicott, NY. The Rev. Patricia Raube, Pastor of the church, will officiate. The family will receive friends 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the church. Carolyn requested that those wishing to make contributions select a charity of their choice.
