Coleman & Daniels provides personalized consultation regarding your pre-planning choices.
Pre-planning relieves your family of making many decisions about your funeral service during a stressful time. It allows your loved ones to be aware of your preferences regarding the type of service you would prefer.
Pre-planning also allows you to set aside funeral funds so that monetary considerations are not a concern at the time of arrangements. Many people ask about funeral funds and how it would affect their SSI/Medicaid eligibility. Funeral funds which are placed in an “irrevocable” interest-bearing secure account will not affect your SSI/Medicaid eligibility. Accounts which are deemed “irrevocable” cannot be used for anything else except funeral expenses. Surplus funds in these irrevocable accounts are returned to the County which has provided the Medicaid/SSI benefit. However if your account is a “revocable” account, you are entitled to withdraw the principal amount and the interest at any time.
Be sure to notify your next-of-kin or your attorney that a prearrangement has been prepared at the funeral home of your choice.
If you would like to discuss your prearrangement, please call us at (607)785-0411 and we will set up a time for you to come in and answer all your questions. A funeral director will guide you through this process.
Many people are now choosing this peace-of-mind option.
