Obituary of Donald Powell

Donald Charles Powell Born May 19, 1928Died October 9, 2013Don passed away quietly on Wednesday, October 9th. He is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Florence Ellen Bennett Powell. He is survived by his four daughters, Cynthia Strada, Christine Powell, Elizabeth Tiberio and Penny Powell; and five grandchildren. Don was born and raised in Oneonta where he met the love of life, Flossie. He worked as a railroad man and a telephone lineman. For over 60 years he camped on Piseco Lake with his family, enjoying the beauty of the Adirondacks he loved. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and all-around nice guy. The family would like to thank the staff of Lily Court at Ideal Senior Living Center for making his healthcare setting a home. And of course -- words cannot thank you, Ann Marie, for the loving care you always gave to Mom and Dad. The family will receive friends at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC at 765 Main Street, Vestal, on Friday, October 11th, from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be held at Plains Cemetery in Oneonta, NY Saturday October 12th at 1:00 pm..
