Obituary of Virginia M Edwards

Virginia Mae (Smith) Edwards of Vestal Virginia Mae (Smith) Edwards, 86, of Vestal, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at her home after a long illness. She was predeceased by her mother, Edna M. Smith; and her son, Dennis (Denny) Edwards. She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Arthur L. Edwards; daughter and son-in-law, Nadine M. and Michael Walsh, Brewerton, N.Y.; son and daughter-in-law, David A. and Kathleen Edwards, Vestal; grandsons, Matthew M. and wife Julie Walsh, Spencerport, Daniel P. Walsh and Maureen McCormack, Central Square, John A. and Christine Edwards, Morris, N.Y., Derek M. and Adrianne Edwards, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Grace and Anna Walsh, Nathaniel and Anastasia Edwards, Katie Wagner, Dennis Edwards. She was retired from the Blind Association of Binghamton; a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at American Legion Post 89, Vestal; and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Funeral and Interment Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Coleman & Daniels, Inc., 765 Main St., Vestal. The Rev. Roger L. Frederick, Pastor of the Vestal Center United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Friday from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, N.Y. 13850 or to the Vestal Center United Methodist, 478 West Hill Rd., Vestal, N.Y. 13850.
